The beauty and rhythms of the coastal landscape…the water, the rocks, the woods…create the most captivating of inner dialogues. I am caught up in the in-between, with particular sensitivity to space and texture. The obvious has its own resolute beauty; the in-between space, both predictable and unpredictable is what is alluring.
 
My paintings are a melding of careful constructs and chance, resulting in a meeting place where I find balance. Some of my paintings involve applying many layers of paint, whereby traces of previous layers remain and emerge as either sparks or support for new layers. The texture of these paint layers provides grounding and interesting pathways for future shifts in line, form, and composition. Running the spectrum of the known and unknown, that is the adventure.
